Reference Guidelines

You will need to provide a minimum of 3 references with your application. References should be completed on the Au Pair in America reference forms, available for on our forms (link) page.

• For Au Pair/Extraordinaire you must include at least 1 childcare and 1 character reference among the 3.
• For Educare, you must have at least 1 childcare, 1 academic, and 1 character reference
• Your primary childcare experience and recent hours of experience must have references to support them.
• Immediate family members may not complete a reference
• All references must be signed, dated, and contain sufficient detail about your experience
• We encourage you to submit as many childcare and character references as possible. It is especially useful to provide references from employer listed on your childcare experience form. Your references should be able to verify at least 200 hours of your childcare experience.
